Jamie Walker is a Business Intermediary at The NYBB Group with more than 15 years of experience in institutional finance, global business, and the energy industry. As an entrepreneur and former CEO, he brings many relevant skills that benefit clients in middle market mergers, acquisitions, and exit strategies. His expertise includes complex deal structuring, contract negotiation, due diligence, valuation, strategic planning, sales and marketing, financial analysis/ modeling, and risk management. He is particularly well versed in energy industry issues, including financing, regulations, and industry/ market trends. He has extensive experience working with financial institutions, regulators, accountants, attorneys, and investors.
Prior to joining The NYBB Group, Jamie founded and grew a global energy brokerage with offices in New York, Houston, London, Dubai, and Singapore. During his 10-year tenure as CEO, he built relationships with key players in the energy industry, including national oil companies, refiners, government ministries, sovereign wealth funds, institutional banks, and regulatory agencies. He participated in a number of M&A deals, including partnering with a Fortune 500 financial services firm in the acquisition of an oils business that spanned products, financial derivatives, and relationships with more than 200 institutional customers throughout Europe, the Middle East, and Africa.
Previously, Jamie was one of the leading brokers in the Northern Asia oil and coal markets. He also brokered thermal coal, including helping mine owners bring new supply to market, developing the financial derivatives market for coal in Asia, and pioneering hedging contracts for Japanese and South Korean power companies.
Prior to time in Asia Jamie was a coal broker in London of a leading energy firm, where he brokered coal swaps and presented, structured, and implemented complex deals for institutional clients in Europe, Asia, and North America. Jamie started in the energy business as a commodity futures broker to corporate clients at a Toronto commodity brokerage firm. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Athabasca University and earned Series 3 and Series 30 licenses from the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority.
